Indian Maestro Sachin Tendulkar
We saw him batting for the first time at a tender age of 15. As his cricketing career progressed he effortlessly handled the world’s most dangerous bowlers and warmed our hearts with his boyish charm. When he announced his retirement in 2013 a feeling of emptiness gripped his Indian fans and many around the world. Such is Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar’s aura and charm.
Throughout his career, his body has been as accommodating today as it was when he first played for India. But how does he maintain his body and what are his fitness secrets? We’ve found out all of this and more for you on our Legend’s birthday.
Sachin and Fitness
Hailed as the best cricketer in the world, Sachin’s favourite way of staying fit is by spending hours playing cricket. As a child, he would spend hours in the nets practising his batting in a will to become the best batter and he rightly achieved so too! His fitness schedule has always been very specific to his needs and he does a lot of things which are out of the box. He understands biodynamics of exercising and the spatial awareness he has while performing a workout regime. His speed, agility and core strength are also amazing. When it comes to fitness his discipline is impeccable whether he’s playing or unwinding.
Fortunate to have his hobby and job as the same, Sachin’s free fitness regime is commendable. Although cricket is enough of a physical exercise, he does not stop at this. After training or after a hectic day, he does breathing exercises as a stress-buster. He also meditates which helps keep him calm.
Food and Sachin
Food and Sachin go together like runs and Sachin. A foodie by heart, he never misses the chance to try his favourite dishes even when he was touring. While he enjoys food outside, nothing satisfies him more than home-cooked food. Bengali and Thai food have a special place in his heart. Steaks, Lobster cooked in a Bengali style and seafood have him queue up immediately. As for dessert, he shares an undying love for Mango – Alphonso being his favourite variety. His food intake has consisted of 30% Protein, 30% Fat and 40% Carbohydrate. A perfect balance in his diet this helps him burn enough calories when he is working out or at the grounds playing cricket. Eating healthy food also helped him overcome a lean phase in Test cricket.
Sachin wants every Indian to play sports a part of their fitness regime. Ranked as the diabetes capital of the world, sports for all is Sachin’s vision for India’s fit and healthy future.
With humble beginnings, Sachin became Sachin. In a career that spanned 24 years, Sachin gave us uncountable memories and a few of his innings simply stand out from the rest. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar was a run-machine, a match-winner and a cricketing god in a country that worships cricket. Happy Birthday, Master Blaster! May you continue to warm our hearts forever!
